UK government blind to common sense over Julian Assange
I am deeply disappointed with the unsatisfactory response from the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice in the Government of the United Kingdom, the Rt Hon Robert Buckland QC MP, which advised that Julian Assange will not be granted compassionate release from prison on the basis that he does not meet the criteria and he also presents as a flight risk.

Getting Townsville cyclists back on track
Federal Minister for Emergency Management David Littleproud and the State Minister for Sport Mick de Brenni announced today that Townsville Cycle Club will receive funding of $1.86 million to make vital repairs to its flood-damaged infrastructure at the Murray Sporting Complex in Annandale.

Spend locally and spend with small business
We are going to have thousands of people in the region who are going to get the $750 stimulus payment from the end of this month.
My plea is that people spend it with a local business in our region.
Spend it locally, spend it with a small business and spend to support someone’s job.

Labor shows its colours on a carbon tax, again
A question from Labor’s shadow environment minister in Parliament yesterday gave a clear indication that a future Labor Government would introduce a carbon tax.
Their question was basically this: Some expert has said that if the Coalition underwrites a coal-fired power station in Collinsville it’s going to cost taxpayers a lot of money when a carbon price comes in.
Clean coal-fired power
Despite claims by one inner-city Liberal MP on Sky News this morning, the Morrison Liberal National Government is providing funding to coal-fired power projects, principally because they provide stable and reliable baseload supply.
