New $2.5 million bridge now spans Gregory River

DECEMBER 21, 2017: PEOPLE in the Whitsundays are enjoying safer and more reliable road access thanks to the replacement of the Gregory River Bridge on Dingo Beach Road under Round Two of the Liberal National Government’s Bridges Renewal Programme.This $1.25 million grant was matched by funding from Whitsunday Regional Council and the single-lane timber bridge has now been replaced by a two-lane concrete bridge.This provides a huge safety boost for Whitsunday drivers and visitors to the region.It was identified as a priority by local government and works, which commenced in September last year, were managed by the Whitsunday Regional Council.More information on the Bridges Renewal Programme is available online at www.infrastructure.gov.au/bridges
