Get funding to celebrate Armistice Day Centenary
JANUARY 15, 2018: SCHOOLS, community groups and councils are reminded that it’s time to lodge Expressions of Interest for funding to celebrate the Armistice Day Centenary this year.A total of $50,000 is available for local community commemorations to mark the end of the First World War.This is a significant occasion in our nation’s history; the recognition of a time when as a small nation we made a huge contribution to the war effort. We were a nation of fewer than five million people and yet 416,809 people enlisted, 60,000 died and 156,000 were wounded, gassed or taken prisoner. We will recognise the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War in November and I am seeking Expressions of Interest for funding to support community celebrations now. These should be submitted as soon as possible to george.christensen.mp@aph.gov.au, and will be assessed by a Community Consultation Committee. Recommended project proponents will then be invited to complete an application for funding before February 28.Information on the grants has been circulated widely to community groups, schools and local councils, but anyone wanting more information can phone my office on 4944 0662, or go to www.dva.gov.au.
