Respite delivered at Mackay’s new David and Irie Dalrymple Home
Residents of Mackay who are living with a disability have access to new modern respite services following the completion of a purpose-built five-bedroom house which was officially opened today.The ‘David and Irie Dalrymple Home’ will make life easier by providing respite services for carers and families, enabling individuals to reside in assisted living for up to three months at a time.There is an unmet demand for respite services in Mackay, and these five extra beds are vitally needed.This new house is purpose-built with accessible bathrooms and kitchen, and will bring comfort to residents with special needs.
Surf club election pledge takes shape
WORK to fulfill an election commitment to the Eimeo Surf Life Saving Club will soon get under way, with the end result of an upgraded premises with a dedicated first aid room and training facility.I was happy to make the commitment in June last year that a re-elected Liberal National Government would provide $100,000 for this upgrade.The club's president Bill Landsbury and vice president Duncan Sanderson told me they hope to have it up and running by the end of April.
$250,000 for Mackay netball courts upgrade
AFTER learning of the need for some major improvements at the Mackay Netball Association courts, I was happy to announce today that a re-elected Liberal National Government will provide $250,000 for upgrades and new courts.I met with Lyn Law and members of her committee on a couple of occasions and also conducted an inspection of the netball courts which are cracking up, literally.The club is struggling to cater for their large membership base on the eight courts they have, and they have plans in place to build another eight courts, as well as completely resurface the existing courts.
