Mackay Aqua Park opens in time for Christmas
DECEMBER 15, 2017: THE official opening of Mackay's Aqua Fun Park was held today and it was a pleasure to provide assistance to keep this park afloat, literally. At the last election I made a commitment to seek $150,000 in funding for this giant inflatable water park for two reasons; because it was providing valuable casual job opportunities for young people, and also because it a wonderful tourism venture which boosts Mackay's attractiveness as a stopover destination. The Aqua Fun Park is one of North Queensland’s largest inflatable water parks, and it's opening again in prime time at the beginning of the Christmas holiday season.Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester, who is the Acting Regional Development Minister, shared in the announcement today. The new Aqua Park is a fabulous opportunity for everyone to jump, slide and race around on giant inflatable obstacles in a safe environment,” Mr Chester said.“Obstacles include giant slides, pontoons, trampolines and climbing walls – all filled with air and floating on water – waiting for tourists and residents this holiday season.”The Aqua Park can cater for up to 150 people per session and bookings are available for youth focused community organisations and club groups to host fundraising events. The Coalition Government fully funded the $150,000 project.
