Work on Gloucester green to get rolling

Work on a new sporting facility for the Whitsunday community of Hydeaway Bay kicks off this week following approval of funding committed by the Morrison Liberal National Government in April last year.

The Gloucester Sports & Recreation Association has received $194,000 under the Community Development Grants program to build a two-lane synthetic bowling green.

This is an exciting stage in the development of this new bowling green at Hydeaway Bay which is the result of a lot of hard work by the committee members of the Gloucester Sports and Recreation Club, led by president Warren Hardy.

This sports and leisure activity will be welcomed by the 600 residents of the region – the people of Dingo Beach, Nelly Bay, Cape Gloucester and surrounds – and also the many tourists who head to this wonderful part of the coast for holidays.

The Gloucester Sports & Recreation Association has been working towards this project for some time.

They also raised funds and attracted in-kind support to the value of $50,000.

Work begins this week and I look forward to coming back for a game of bowls when work is complete.
