I had the pleasure of turning on Whitsunday Raceway’s brand new floodlights for the first time last night , ushering in a new era of night-time racing events for Whitsunday Moto Sports Club.

The new lights were installed thanks to a $480,000 grant through the Morrison Liberal National Government’s Community Development Grants Program.

The installation of these lights means we will see the Whitsundays play host, not only to national events, but also international events when the borders re-open.

That means people coming into the region, staying in local accommodation, spending money in local businesses and hopefully going back home and telling people about this great facility as well as everything else the region has to offer.

I have to thank everyone associated with Whitsunday Moto Sports Club for the initiative and drive to get this project off the ground, because without them it simply wouldn’t have happened.

It’s a spectacular sight to see these bikes zipping around the track under the lights, you can imagine there’ll be some great events hosted there in the future.
