Digital learning at Seaforth State School has taken a massive leap forward thanks to a Federal Government grant of $15,000 for the school to install new computers and IT equipment.

Seaforth State School had some old computers in various stages of repair – some of them as much as 10 years old, and we know how much technology has advanced in that time.

I was very pleased to see that the school’s application for funding under the popular Local Schools Community Fund was successful and the $15,000 they received has enabled them to upgrade the computer room and give the students here the opportunity to engaged in a range of new programs such as digital editing, programming drones and other STEM projects.

I was very supportive of funding under the Local Schools Community Fund going to our smaller regional schools, who just don’t have the population base to undertake a huge amount of fundraising to provide all kinds of things that our schools are in need of.

A Dawson electorate schools committee met to review and select finalists for the grant program.

14 schools in the Dawson electorate have received funding under the Local Schools Community Fund and will be providing a range of facilities and services for their students, ranging from purchasing musical instruments and creating libraries through to upgrading playgrounds and providing shade.
