Labor telling porkies on road infrastructure funding
Hundreds of millions of dollars claimed by the State Labor Government as their investments in local infrastructure have in fact come from the Federal LNP Government.
Earlier today, Labor published a joint media release which fully credited the Palaszczuk Government with delivering funds for 14 different road infrastructure projects throughout Mackay and the Whitsundays.
In actual fact, nearly all of these projects were 80% funded by the Morrison Liberal National Government and 20% by the State Government.
In a desperate attempt to appear as if they’ve achieved something in the last 5 years, the Labor Government also tried claimed credit for two projects that were 100% funded by the Federal Government!
That’s right, this Labor Government have listed to two Bruce Highway projects totalling over $110 million, that had nothing to do with them, as some of their best achievements for our region.
If they’re trying to sell you that lie, imagine what else they’re trying to swindle you with.
Here’s a list of the projects mentioned, with funding breakdowns:
$63.7 million for overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway between Mackay and Ayr - fully funded by the Federal Government.
$46.5 million for safety upgrades on the Bruce Highway between St Lawrence and Bowen - fully funded by the Federal Government.
$150 million for the Walkerston Bypass (80% Federal Government, 20% State Government (80/20))
$350 million for the Mackay Port Access project (80/20)
$120.4 million for the Mackay Northern Access up on the Bruce Highway (80/20)
$38.8 million for safety improvements on the Bruce Highway (Proserpine - Bowen) between Emu Creek and Drays Road (80/20)
$37 million for widening and rehabilitation on the Bruce Highway (Mackay - Proserpine) between Hampden and Kuttabul (80/20)
$35 million for widening and strengthening of the Peak Downs Highway (Clermont - Nebo) between Wuthung Road and Caval Ridge Mine (80/20)
$28.8 million for paving and sealing the Bowen Developmental Road between Rockingham Creek and Mount Coolon (80/20)
$18 million for safety improvements on the Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Eton (80/20)
$15 million to plan and preserve the Goorganga Plains for flood immunity (80/20)
$12 million for upgrading the Proserpine - Shute Harbour Road between Paluma Road and Valley Drive (Cannonvale) (80/20)
$8 million for progressive sealing the May Downs Road (80/20)
$5 million for strengthening and overlay on the Rockleigh - North Mackay Road between Oasis Drive and Glenpark Street (80/20)
