Local volunteer groups can now apply for federal funding to support them in the work they do to help others.
A double round of funding is on offer to cover two financial years, with $132,450 available for the electorate of Dawson under the Morrison Liberal National Government’s Volunteer Grants program.
Volunteering is part of the Australian way of life.
Volunteers provide invaluable support to so many organisations and sections of our community – from helping our elderly and assisting with sporting groups through to fighting bushfires and assisting young people.
There are also many social and economic benefits for those who volunteer such as increased confidence, reduced marginalisation and skill development.
I encourage any volunteer groups who would appreciate funding assistance to get in touch with my office and request an Expression of Interest form.
Volunteer grants can be used to buy small equipment or for the reimbursement of volunteer fuel, transport or training costs, and eligible groups can apply for between $1,000 and $5,000.
Expressions of Interest need to be returned by April 16, and then my office will work with a community consultation committee to determine which applicants can proceed to make applications by June 9. Those who are successful will be advised in November.
To request an Expression of Interest form, email George.christensen.mp@aph.gov.au or call 4944 0662.
