Blood, sweat & tears to build Adani mine worth it

It is fantastic news to hear today that BMD Group have been awarded a $350 million plus contract for the civil works involved in constructing Adani’s Carmichael rail line.

This work will deliver another 600 jobs for workers in the region.

Workers already out on site have also moved into the first of three accommodation villages which will house the workforce to construct the Carmichael Rail Network which will provide 1200 jobs in total.

And there’s a further 250 workers on site involved in constructing the mine which will build to 400+ jobs.

This demonstrates that Adani is well and truly on track to deliver the 1500 direct jobs and 6,750 jobs promised.

Let’s not forget that the fight to make this happen went on for years and reached a head before the federal election last year.

To lobby for this project, I have done battle with the extreme greenies, the Queensland Labor Government and even a former federal environment minister.

I also flew to India at my own expense to meet with Guatam Adani with a carry bag full of postcards assuring him that the people of Central and North Queensland wanted the project to go ahead.

Sometimes it seemed we wouldn’t get there, but every worker who scores a job as a result, either directly or indirectly, proves that the blood, sweat and tears were worth it.
