Sharing your concerns
[separator headline="h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6" title="FEBRUARY 5, 2015: "] I addressed a Nationals Party meeting in Wodonga today, to deliver a clear message from the people of North Queensland. (Though we sit under the LNP banner in Queensland, I am a National.) I've received an enormous amount of feedback, both positive and negative, during the Queensland election campaign and since polling day, and a wide range of issues have been raised at polling booths, through Facebook and through calls and emails to my office. Some are national concerns, but most are specific to local communities or Northern Australia. I can assure you the issues you are really passionate about, such as job security and the cost of living, will be a focus for the Nationals, especially in North Queensland where the resource industry downturn has hit the local economy hard. I have discussed income splitting, Northern Australia, a rural bank, insurance and a national disaster fund, a local stronger regions fund and the high costs of fuel and electricity in regional Australia. My Facebook page and website will play a key role in keeping the community updated and engaged on a daily basis.
