Website helps young people land jobs

IMPROVEMENTS to the Federal Government’s My Skills website will help young people land jobs by providing more information on vocational education and training. The new features on the website – myskills.gov.au – will point young people to the skills in demand in each state, help them calculate the costs of training and provide information on training providers.Anything we can do to help young people get a job is a step in the right direction. The My Skills website is the national directory of vocational education and training organisations and courses, so it’s the go-to site for young people, training providers and employers on VET education. These new enhancements to the website will make it easier for our students to find out what jobs are in demand, and find the courses which will best suit them in the pursuit of those jobs. The updated website provides useful and up-to-date information on VET training courses, and includes an overall student satisfaction rating and employment outcomes for the 230 most popular courses. It also features improved display  and new features such as:

  • Courses linked to skills in demand in each state and territory
  • Overall student satisfaction and employment outcomes for the 230 most popular courses
  • A VET FEE HELP course calculator to help people understand their potential future debt
  • Identification of training providers sanctioned by the regulator for wrongdoing
  • A modernised, tablet-optimised homepage design.

The Liberal National Government is investing about $6 billion this year to support training that gives apprentices and vocational students the high quality training they need.Find out more at the website myskills.gov.au
