The truth on public hospital funding in Mackay

MAY 17, 2018: The Federal Coalition Government is delivering record funding to the Mackay Local Hospital Network, increasing by more than 30 per cent, at the same time as the Queensland Labor Government cut their own funding by 2 per cent.Today Labor’s Shadow Health Spokesperson Catherine King failed to condemn the Palaszczuk Government’s cut to Mackay’s public hospital funding. In stark contrast, the Federal Government stands ready to deliver over $7 billion in additional funding for Queensland public hospitals.Unfortunately the Palaszczuk Government and Bill Shorten continue to ignore this record hospital funding agreement, denying millions of extra services to Queensland patients.Labor puts politics before patients. The National Health Agreement from 2020-21 to 2024-25, will deliver record hospital funding in each and every year, providing millions of additional hospital services for patients.Six of Australia’s eight states and territories are now covered by the record funding agreement, including three Labor governments and three Liberal governments. We stand ready to deliver record funding for Queensland hospitals, providing more doctors, nurses and services. As part of a new long-term agreement, the Liberal National Government will provide an additional $30 billion for Australian hospitals, totalling almost $128 billion over the next five year hospital agreement. At the end of the day you can’t trust Labor and Bill Shorten with the economy and you can’t believe a word they say on health funding.Only the Coalition Government will continue to put patients first.
