DECEMBER 8. 2015: A production of Bram Stoker’s classic, Dracula, and a performance by emerging Far North Queensland talent Greta Stanley are cultural experiences Mackay audiences can look forward to in 2016 thanks to two Liberal National Government funding programs.I am pleased to announce that Mackay audiences will benefit from the Federal Government’s support for artists through the Playing Australia Regional Arts Touring Fund and the Contemporary Music Touring Program, respectively.The Shake & Stir Theatre Company will receive $495,026 to fund a touring production of Bram Stoker’s classic horror story, Dracula, and this will include a visit to Mackay.Another recipient is talented young singer Greta Stanley from Far North Queensland who secured a grant of $7,500 to tour the East Coast in December and January following the release of her debut EP Bedroom City.These outstanding arts events will give local audiences the opportunity to experience performances of outstanding quality in an arts venue in their own community.[box style="1 or 2"]Minister for the Arts, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield today announced funding of more than $1.3 million to support six performing arts projects and 12 contemporary music acts to tour their latest work to regional and remote Australia in 2016.The funding programs are administered through the Australia Council.“This latest round of funding will support 257 arts performances in 108 destinations across Australia in all states and territories, including classical music, ballet and theatre,” Minister Fifield said.“It will also support 12 contemporary music tours to 157 destinations across all states and territories, including jazz, country, soul, indie and contemporary art music,” Minister Fifield said.[/box]Find out more at www.australiacouncil.gov.au/funding/new-grants-model/
