Strong progress on dam fine Urannah project

I’m happy to see the State Labor Government taking such an interest in the transformational Urannah Dam project, and I look forward to working with them as we make this happen.

Bowen Collinsville Enterprise, who are the proponents of the project, are making great progress since receiving a commitment of $10 million from the Morrison Liberal National Government during the election campaign.

The deed of agreement has been submitted to the State Labor Government and I am happy to see that the Natural Resources Minister Dr Anthony Lynham is so interested in the development of the Dam.

Just last week I welcomed the Bowen Collinsville Enterprise to Canberra for talks with MPs in the Nationals Party Room, and these representatives also met with me, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure Michael McCormack and the Minister for Northern Australia Matt Canavan.

The federal funding for this project does not just deliver a full blown business case; it will be used for many components of the project, including design and engineering, environmental impact assessments, indigenous land use agreement processes and early works.

The Urannah Dam has the potential to open up more than 20,000 hectares of agricultural land and is estimated to cost around $600 million.
