Scholarships on offer for regional students

OCTOBER 9, 2018: REGIONAL students keen on studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) courses are encouraged to apply for a Government-funded scholarship of up to $18,000.Applications are now open for the $24 million Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program, which helps students with the costs of studying STEM subjects at university or a vocational education and training institution. One of these scholarships could help a promising young student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities, and they’re particularly relevant to our region.New guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.I encourage every student who wants to study STEM subjects to apply for the program.More than 1,200 rural, regional and remote students will receive support through the program. The scholarships may also include internships to help students develop their professional experience and ensure they’re job-ready.Applications close on Friday 14 December 2018.For more information and to apply, visit https://www.education.gov.au/rural-and-regional-enterprise-scholarships or https://www.qtac.edu.au/scholarships
