Safe Places grant round now open to region’s organisations

$60 million worth of grants are now available to assistlocal organisations expand emergency accommodation services for thoseexperiencing domestic and family violence.

We know that the supply of crisis accommodation for women and children in the region is limited.

While the funding of such services chiefly rests with state governments, the Morrison Government has committed $60 million in capital grants to construct, renovate or purchase new buildings or land to create additional safe places in our community.

I would encourage eligible organisations to apply for the grants. Applications have just opened and need to be submitted by February 14 next year.

This significant investment in emergency accommodation by the Morrison Government can provide more women and children experiencing domestic and family violence with somewhere safe to stay.

The grants form part of the Morrison Government’s $340million investment in the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan to ReduceViolence against Women and their Children 2010-2022.

Applications for funding are now open to eligibleorganisations. Visit the GrantConnectwebsite for more information.
