Regional jobs package delivers big ticket projects for Mackay

MARCH 15, 2018: FOUR projects which will create 84 jobs and provide a $12 million injection into the Mackay economy received a $2.4 million Federal Government boost today with the announcement of successful applicants under the Regional Jobs and Investment Program. Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh joined me at D&T Hardchrome in Paget for the announcement will soon see new infrastructure projects take shape.

  • D&T Hardchrome have received a $1.6 million grant towards their $10.4 million expansion to establish a world-class Industrial Hard Chrome Electroplating and Finishing Facility. This will create 20 ongoing jobs
  •  Diacon Australia have received $420,000 towards their million dollar project to sustainably expand supply of DIACON Plastic Conveyor Improvement System  products into a growing network of resellers across Australia and ultimately, offshore
  • Linked Group Services received just under $250,000 for a $500,000 new fabrication workshop, headquarters and showroom
  • Mackay Canegrowers Ltd received $150,000 for their $300,000 tailored skills and training program for farmers

“Regional Australia is critical to our national prosperity and we are committed to unlocking its potential. That means delivering high-quality infrastructure that will allow each region to thrive,”Dr McVeigh said.“The Member for Dawson George Christensen has been a tireless advocate for the region, working closely with the local community to secure this important funding commitment and help fast track major infrastructure investment.“This investment will help diversify the local economy, safeguarding it against any potential downturn in the future.”
