PM to take tea with community
FEBRUARY 10, 2016: REPRESENTATIVES from Mackay’s community organisations are invited to meet with the Prime Minister at a special afternoon tea in Mackay on Monday afternoon. They will join the city’s civic and business leaders at the event, and I want to ensure that as many community groups as possible are represented. My office has contacted the vast majority of community groups and we’ve had a huge response. But I’d like to extend the invitation to other community group representatives who would like to take the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister. There are limited spaces still available due to room capacity and fire regulations so we can’t invite everyone. The Prime Minister will be on a strict time schedule, and he may not get to talk to everyone. However he is keen to meet as many as he can.If you represent a community group, and you want to be there, please call my office to see if there are any spaces available.I caught up with the Prime Minister again this morning ahead of next week’s visit.Mr Turnbull is very well aware of the challenges we have been facing due to the mining downturn; he raised that with me again this morning. He’s looking forward to the visit and he’s keen to hear from the people on the ground on Monday.Representatives of community groups interested in attending the event are asked to call 4944 0662.
