Petition to stop abuse of legal system

9 DECEMBER 2016: To the thousands of North Queenslanders who joined me in the push to get Adani’s Carmichael Coal Project over the line, I would like to offer sincere thanks and also to congratulate you on the successes we have achieved to date. Mr Adani’s visit to North Queensland this week brought with it a wave of confidence and a positive outlook for our region as we look forward to the jobs and economic boost that will follow.

Last year, I asked residents to sign postcards of support for the project, which I hand delivered to Mr Adani, who was both surprised and delighted with the level of support.

While the Carmichael Mine Project is about to roll out and jobs are starting to flow, there is still more work to do. Activists continue to abuse the Australian legal system to wage an ideological war against jobs and workers, including yet another challenge to the Carmichael Coal Project. We can stop activists using frivolous court actions (lawfare) to frustrate and delay valuable job-creating projects by passing legislation through parliament.

Download and sign the petition calling on the Australian Labor Party to support the legislation and give Adani (and other job-creators) the certainty they need to invest in our economic future. Let’s keep up the pressure to bring jobs and productive endeavour to all of North Queensland.

You can download the petition here and return it by email to George.Christensen.MP@aph.gov.au or by mail to: George Christensen, PO Box 1697, Mackay QLD 4740.
