Neato effort on jobs

APRIL 21, 2015: Assistant Minister for Employment Luke Hartsuyker met up with the Neato Employment Services team during his visit to Mackay and he was impressed with their commitment to helping people get jobs. The Whitsundays-based business is growing in leaps and bounds under the Liberal National Government's new jobactive employment services model which comes into effect from July 1. Neato's tender to provide employment services was successful and they are now in the process of opening 17 new offices. They're also expanding their services west to Moranbah and Clermont, and further south to Wide Bay and Toowoomba, as well as servicing Mackay, the Whitsundays, Bowen and the Burdekin.Senior operations officer Kylie Waters and Mackay team leader Rebecca Rintoul gave us a insight into how they operate during our visit. They have a strong focus on engaging with employers and take a very proactive approach to getting people into work."We work to take the time and effort out of recruiting for employers, and focus on finding the right person for the job," Ms Waters said.[box style="1 or 2"]The Coalition’s new jobactive system will provide clearer incentives to ensure employment service providers are focused on better preparing job seekers to meet the needs of local employers and helping people to find and keep a job.The new model includes wage subsidies for young job seekers, Indigenous job seekers, the long term unemployed, the Restart subsidy for older workers as well as Relocation Assistance to help people move to take up a job. There is also the Job Commitment Bonus to encourage young job seekers to stay in work and off welfare.[/box]
