My issue with #Illridewithyou
A considerable amount of feedback on my #Illridewithyou campaign comments confirms a number of things about the Left and those who pander to their ideology.According to the Left, an Islamic terrorist killing and maiming Australians does not mean all Muslims are terrorists. True. I wholeheartedly agree. However, according to the same left, a yobbo Australian harassing a Muslim on a train does mean all Australians are racist thugs. But anyone who takes the time to look at the facts behind the campaign will soon find out that the Muslim-harassing yobbo that sparked the campaign didn’t even exist.Former Greens candidate for the seat of Brisbane Rachael Jacobs got a bit loose with the truth when she dreamed up an encounter on a Brisbane train.Don’t take my word for it … read Rachael’s own words.
Rachael didn’t say the words “I’ll ride with you” to anyone. She saw a woman remove a headscarf. She had no clue why; and admits the woman may simply have been hot.
She started dreaming up a fantasy of what that gesture may have meant, and populated it with her own prejudices. She harnessed those prejudices and raged at injustice and racism where there was none – there was just a woman sitting quietly on a train. And she spawned a Politically Correct outpouring of sympathy for “victims” of something that wasn’t happening. The creation of these “victims” diverted attention away from the horror of what was still taking place in the Lindt café where some real victims were caught up in a politically motivated terror attack.Through admirable mental gymnastics, the Left is able to believe an Islamic cleric shooting people in the name of ISIS is not about Islam and other followers of Islam are not a threat. But if an attack (of a much less violent nature) is perpetrated by a white Australian then all white Australians should be considered a threat. The whole concept of the #Illridewithyou campaign drives a wedge between Australians by depicting all Muslims as the victims of all non-Muslims.
How do we deal with the rise of Islamism? This is the discussion we need to have, but we can’t have these discussions while the deluge of politically correct abuse drowns out our voices.
As I stated in my Facebook post - let’s not create victims where there are none, and don’t paint us a nation of Muslim-bashing racists when this is just wrong. Yes, there have been incidents of intolerance in this country but while I do not want people of any race or religion to live in fear while trying to go about their daily lives, the Left and the Greens behind this campaign are happy as long as it is only white Christians who have to live in fear.Links to more food for thought:Noxious and naïve leftMoral posturing
