Motocross puts safety first with $15,000 buggy

JANUARY 30, 2018: THERE'S some rising talent at Mackay Junior Motocross and I have been pleased to see them get some assistance with their application for funding for a medical buggy under the Stronger Communities Program proving to be successful.I was joined by special guest and Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie, to congratulate the club.Mackay Junior Motocross will now be able to provide a safer riding environment for participants at their race events due to the purchase of their own medical buggy to administer first aid or transport injured riders. They were successful in their application for a grant of $7,150, or 50 per cent of the cost, of a fit-for-purpose 4x4 medical buggy. This can be used to assist fallen riders, particularly the learners, and also for officials to check track conditions and conduct maintenance at the track. The club has been making do with members lending their personal buggies, and the ability to purchase their own equipment will make a different for this growing club.Joining myself and Minister McKenzie at this announcement are passionate motocross families., front from left, Bella Burke, Chase Jewell and Darcy Burke, and back from left Kellie Burke with son Dallas and Bonnie Jewell with son Harley.
