More funds on offer to build the regions
MAY 22, 2018: We had a win in the first round of the Building Better Regions Fund Round One, so it was good to hear that a third round of this program was announced in the 2018-19 Budget. An additional $200 million has been provided for a direct investment into the economic and social infrastructure of our regional communities. It should also be noted that $45 million of this additional investment will be directed to tourism-related infrastructure projects, in recognition of the importance of the sector. In round one, Mackay received an injection of $1 million to build a state-of-the-art skate park and wheeled sports plaza. Extending the BBRF to a third round will allow community organisations that may have previously missed out to have the opportunity to expand and further develop their applications, allowing us to continue our investment in regional communities.I strongly urge organisations and the community to take advantage of this initiative when applications are called later this year.Round two of the BBRF, which offers grants of between $20,000 and $10 million, is currently under assessment with decisions expected towards the middle of this year. For more information visit: https://www.business.gov.au/assistance/building-better-regions-fund
