Invite a lone dad to dinner on Father’s Day

SEPTEMBER 4, 2015: IF you know a dad who might be spending Father’s Day alone, invite them to your place on Sunday. This is the message being spread through some RSL sub-branches and it’s one I enthusiastically support.ABS statistics suggest there may be as many as 750,000 fathers who don't have their dependent-aged children living with them. For them, Father's Day might not necessarily be a happy occasion. Some of them will see their children at some stage during the day, but many others will not.We can all do something about that.We all know dads who live alone. It might be a work mate, brother, cousin or even a son.Talk to them, call them and invite them to your place for a meal. That simple gesture might make all the difference in someone’s life.If you think this is a good idea, spread the message on Facebook or Twitter and we can try to ensure that no dad is alone on Father’s Day.
