G20 is a big deal By George Christensen

It's G20 Week in Brisbane (November 14-16), which focuses the eyes of the world on our state capital. So what's it all about? It's a gathering of the world's 20 advanced and emerging economies, covers two thirds of the world's population and the focus is economic cooperation. On the Australian agenda is increasing employment, promoting trade and competition, investing in infrastructure and reforming global tax systems. All of these are designed to directly boost economic growth and create new jobs. The centrepiece of this agenda is the G20's commitment to boost economic growth by an additional 2 per cent over five years. This is the first time the G20 has agreed to such a target. We are already about 90 per cent of the way to reaching it.The G20 will bring about 4000 delegates and 3000 media representatives to town, and the direct economic benefits for Brisbane are estimated to be in excess of $100 million.
