Green funds for our environment

FEBRUARY 23, 2015: FUNDING is flowing to a number of Green Army projects in the region to improve our beaches and riverways, creeks and catchment areas.This is practical environmental action from the Liberal National Government, and more than $215,000 in funding will be directed to projects in Mackay, Bowen and the Burdekin.[box style="1 or 2"]Mackay Region Beach Preservation and Restoration – three-stage project - $92,000Mackay Riparian Restoration - Stages 3 & 4 - $75,000Wetlands and Waterways in the Lower Burdekin – three-stage project – $27,600 Environmental Enhancement of Don River Delta and Adjacent Beaches - $20,000[/box]More than 350 Green Army projects are set to be rolled out across Australia in the coming weeks following the announcement of successful Round 2 projects in this practical Liberal National Government environmental initiative.If you are aged between 17 and 24, and you’d like to gain training in environmental and conservation fields, consider joining the Green Army.You can find out more at www.environment.gov.au/land/green-army/service-providersCommunity organisations, environment groups and local councils are also encouraged to submit applications for Round 3 of the Green Army Programme.
