Funds available for safety and crime prevention

SEPTEMBER 6, 2018: Local councils and Police Citizens Youth Clubs are invited to apply for up to $2 million in funding to make our streetes safer through infrastructure or early intervention crime prevention strategies.Grant applications for round three of the Safer Communities Fund are now open and it's been boosted by an additional $30 million confiscated by the Commonwealth as proceeds of crime.Grants can be for infrastructure such as CCTV, bollards, lighting and crime prevention through environmental design initiatives.And there's a separate early intervention stream for community organisations to deliver crime prevention or activity based youth engagement projects.This is to support our PCYCs, Bluelight organisations and Youth Off The Streets Limited.Applications for both the infrastructure and intervention streams close on 25 September 2018.Information on how to apply is available on the Australian Government’s Safer Communities Fund – Infrastructure Stream website at business.gov.au/safer-communities-fund, or by calling 13 28 46.
