Funding boost for schools

I was happy to hand over a Liberal National Government grant of $425,000 to Carlisle Adventist Christian College at Beaconsfield today. The funding will allow them to build four new primary classrooms, put in a lift and provide improved furniture and equipment.I met with outgoing principal Dr David McClintock, incoming principal Andrew North and school captains Kody Wilson and Dorcas Manyuchi to share the good news. This has been made possible through the Federal Government's Capital Grants Program which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure where they otherwise may not have access to sufficient resources. Two other schools in the region received big funding boosts this week as well.Burdekin Christian College was given a grant of $375,000 to build three new classrooms, a tuck shop, verandas and improved furniture and equipment.Annandale Christian College, Townsville, received $550,000 to build two new classrooms, two new science laboratories, two new woodwork and metal work rooms, verandas and many other refurbishments. This is in addition to more than $1 million made available earlier this year to three other schools.A Northern Beaches Catholic primary school to be built at Rural View received $150,000 to contribute to their overall project.St Catherine’s Catholic College at Proserpine received $500,000 towards the construction of seven secondary general learning areas as well as a range of other learning facilitie.sWhitsunday Christian College at Cannonvale received $400,000 for the construction of classrooms, music and staff facilities.
