AMSA decentralise to Mackay and Airlie Beach
NOVEMBER 23, 2018: THERE'S good news for Airlie Beach and Mackay with today’s announcement from Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and Minister for Decentralisation Bridget McKenzie that new positions will be created in Mackay and Airlie Beach under the Morrison Government’s decentralisation agenda.Up to 69 new jobs will be created across various regional centres through new or relocated positions at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), and five of those jobs will be in Mackay and Airlie Beach. We know that the lifestyle in the regions is fantastic and now we can demonstrate that great career opportunities are also available.AMSA will deliver up to three new jobs in a new office in Airlie Beach, and 50 new jobs by establishing a new office in Coffs Harbour.AMSA is also expanding job opportunities regionally by relocating up to 16 further positions across the country and two of those positions will be in Mackay.Other positions will be relocated to Cairns, Gladstone, Darwin, Geraldton, Karratha, Port Hedland and Hobart. We know that through proper planning, decentralisation helps boost local economies and builds increased career and employment pathways for those Australians looking for new or improved job prospects. The recent House of Representatives Inquiry into decentralisation found that regional communities understand the benefits of the policy and are very receptive to any move by government departments into their region. With many Australians now looking outside of capital cities to purchase a home and raise their children, our decentralisation agenda provides the perfect opportunity for more people to live in our regions.
