Act now to access flood recovery payments

A reminder to Townsville and Burdekin residents that time is running out to claim assistance payments following the North Queensland floods.

There are two payments available to assist people affected by the devastating floods we experienced in February, and people who believe they are eligible should take action now to access those payments.

The Australian Government’s Disaster Recovery Payment provides $1000 for eligible adults and $400 for eligible children who have experienced significant damage to their home.

The Disaster Recovery Allowance is a short term income supplement for up to 13 weeks for those who lost income as a direct result of the floods.

People have had six months to make a claim for these payments, and most will have done so. But the opportunity to apply will close next Friday, August 30.

The Department of Human Services have received close to 100,000 grant applications for the North Queensland floods.

To find out more about the payments and how to claim go to humanservices.gov.au/disaster or by calling 180 22 66.
