$15,000 lobs at Mackay Tennis

NOVEMBER 27, 2017: IT was a pleasure to catch up with some of the Mackay Tennis players and committee members today to share the good news of a grant of close to $15,000 under the Federal Government's Stronger Communities Program.13 sets of tennis nets and court poles which have seen 35 years of game, set and match activity are set to be replaced. The club will also use some of their $14,750 in funding to upgrade their club house kitchen. They will utilise the manpower of their committee and members to remove the old kitchen and put in a new one..I am told that the Mackay Tennis club house is in use just about every day of the week for social, coaching and fixtures tennis. The total project cost for the group is $29,500, and it will be money well spent on a very popular sporting venue in the city.Joining me for the announcement today were committee member Lorraine Wellby, coach Tina Kenniff, and treasurer/patron Joyce Wallace.
